How Long Event Photos Are Stored
Event photos are available for 30 days after the reveal time. After that they are deleted automatically, and deleted photos cannot be restored — so download the set you want to keep before the window closes.

The retention window
Event photos remain available for 30 days after the event's reveal time. Your host dashboard shows the exact date and time your photos remain available until.
What you should see
Within those 30 days you can view the gallery, run the slideshow and download the full set. After they pass, the photos are removed.
What happens at expiry
- The photos are deleted automatically once the retention window has passed.
- Deletion removes the stored image files, not just the gallery listing.
- Deleted or expired photos cannot be recovered — Event Capsule keeps no copy for you to restore.
- Downloading photos does not extend the window; the automatic deletion still happens on schedule.
Reminders before expiry
Hosts who have verified their email receive reminder emails before the retention window closes, so there is a prompt to download in good time. If you never verified your host email, you will not receive them — verify from find my event.
Deleting sooner
A host can also delete all of an event's photos before the retention window ends. That deletion is immediate and permanent.
Troubleshooting
- Photos disappeared earlier than expected. Either the host deleted them, or the 30 days after reveal have passed.
- You need a copy after expiry. Expired photos are not recoverable. Ask guests whether they still have the originals on their phones.
