Do Guests Need Internet to Upload Photos?
Yes. Event Capsule runs in the phone's browser, so guests need mobile data or Wi-Fi to join and upload. There is no app and no offline queue — a photo is in the capsule only once its upload completes.

A connection is required
Event Capsule runs in the phone's web browser, so guests need a working internet connection — mobile data or Wi-Fi — to open the guest link, join the event and upload photos. There is no app to install and no offline queue: a photo is only in the capsule once its upload has completed.
What guests need
- A modern mobile browser (the default browser on the phone is fine).
- Enough signal to load the join page and send full-size photos.
- Nothing else — no account, no app, no download.
What happens when the signal drops
If the connection fails mid-upload, that photo is not added and the guest sees an error such as "we couldn't upload that photo to storage" or "upload failed". Photos that already uploaded successfully are unaffected, and the guest can simply try the failed one again once they have signal.
What you should see
Retrying a failed photo after moving somewhere with better signal normally works first time, and no duplicate is created by the failed attempt.
Planning for a weak venue
- Test the guest link on your own phone at the venue before the event starts.
- If venue Wi-Fi is poor, tell guests to switch to mobile data — busy guest Wi-Fi is a common cause of slow uploads.
- Guests keep the original photos on their phone, so anything that fails on the night can be uploaded later while the upload window is still open.
